For 40 years, a Bow Valley College education
has meant a hand up to success in the personal and work lives
of more than 250,000 people. We serve more than 11,000 learners
(about 4,000 FLEs) each year in Calgary, at over 20 locations
throughout southern Alberta, and, through contract arrangements,
across Canada and in a number of other countries.
Bow Valley College offers year-round
programs leading to career certificates and diplomas, as well
as adult upgrading and English as a Second Language (ESL)
courses. We have an important social mandate, with a commitment
to ensuring marginalized populations – including new
Canadians, Aboriginals, the working poor and the disabled
– have access to post-secondary education. In addition,
we provide career development and assessment services to some
35,000 Albertans a year, along with other specialized services
for businesses and organizations.
Our College has been very active in providing
access to post-secondary education and meeting skill shortages
to help fuel the local economy. New program development, increased
enrolments in career programs, applied research and international
student recruitment reinforce our distinctive excellence.

Canada’s first publicly
funded community college turns 50 in 2007. Beginning as Lethbridge
Junior College in 1957 with 38 students, Lethbridge Community
College now annually helps more than 7,000 learners achieve
academic and personal success.
With a faculty and staff of more than
1,100, LCC offers in excess of 50 certificate, diploma, post-diploma,
applied degree and apprenticeship programs.
Our nationally renowned Aquaculture Centre
of Excellence, built in 1997, meets the growing need for quality
applied research and training in the Western Canadian aquaculture
and agricultural fields.
Our programs - Criminal Justice, Environmental
Science and Nursing are but three of the more prominent offerings
– annually attract learners from other provinces and
countries. Employers regularly seek out LCC grads for their
high degree of expertise in fields that are helping to keep
Alberta and Canada at the forefront of technology.
Students from LCC have carried the spirit
of Alberta with them throughout Canada and the world. They
have put a personal face on a province and continue to demonstrate
its vaunted commitment to the education of its people. |

Red Deer College provides and facilitates
access to a diverse range of full-time and part-time credit
educational opportunities. We also offer a wide variety of
courses, programs and services for individuals, business and
industry through our Continuing Education Department.
In 1964, we started with an enrolment
of just over 100 students and held classes out of a wing in
a local high school. Today, 40 years later, our innovative
campus offers a comprehensive array of programs to more than
20,000 students. This evolution has occurred naturally and
without losing the intimate community college environment
where the learner matters most.
